Environment and Policy
An important aspect of my work on society, climate change and human-environment relations is the translation of research findings into national and international policy contexts. I was a lead author and steering committee member of the Arctic Council’s (AC) Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA), a steering committee member (representing the International Arctic Science Committee) for the AC’s Arctic Human Development Report (AHDR), and steering committee member (representing Denmark) for the Arctic Resilience Report, as well as being a lead author on the interim report (ARR). In other work, I was a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 4th global assessment and the Canadian national climate change assessment (under the auspices of Natural Resources Canada), a lead author for the UN’s Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, and a member of the Core Group of Experts on Ocean Science in Canada, convened by the Council of Canadian Academies. I have had a long association with the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) and served on the International Board from 2004-2013.
